Woo hoo! Here we go! As many of you know, this summer I have spent some time working with Sarah from Photos by Sarah Beth as a second shooter/assistant/moral supporter/dance floor companion. She’s amazingly talented and I’m so excited that I jumped at the opportunity to work with her. Basically, I show up to weddings with her and help her out – whether that be through taking photos, holding flashes, getting families together and ready for family portraits, etc. It’s been a lot of fun! I really, really enjoy it. And I’m learning so much every time! I hopeeee that one day I’ll be as fantastic as her and book some weddings on my own!
So, anyways, I’d like to show off some of the photographs I captured during the first wedding I worked with her. This wedding was for Katie and Scott and it was out in Leesburg at Raspberry Plains. It was raining all day and I actually bought a couple clear umbrellas to bring to the wedding. BUT as fate would have it, there were breaks in the rain and Katie was amazing about shooting outside. The florals were b-e-a-u-tiful and I think my favorite detail was her dress, which was a reconstruction of her mom’s wedding dress.
This was my first time photographing a “first look,” which I thought was a totally lovely moment. We then proceeded to take some portraits of the bride & groom, and then the entire bridal party.
The ceremony was really pleasant and beautiful. The officiant was pretty funny, which makes for a great vibe throughout the entire thing. Once they were announced as husband and wife, they walked down the aisle to “You Make My Dreams” by Hall and Oates! I thought that was a great song choice!
We took some family portraits afterwards and then a few more bride & groom shots, and then the celebration really took off. There was lots of dancing, glow sticks, cake, and it was just all a joy to capture.
And because I love bloopers:
