Swan Cove Manor Wedding | Lindsay & Chance

Everything about this Swan Cove Manor wedding day was beyond spectacular. Lindsay and Chance, along with their family and friends, were beyond kind and made my heart so full that day. These two are so infectiously and madly in love with one another. It’s obvious from the get go.  Some of my favorite parts of the day: When Lindsay was reading her letter from Chance and was clearly so excited! When Lindsay and her dad saw each other for the first time! When I walked into the house where Chance and his gents were getting ready and his grooms was down on […]

Celebrations at the Bay Wedding | Krystal & Greg

YAY. Krystal and Greg are MARRIED! CHEERS TO THE NEALS! I’m seriously so excited for them. This Celebrations at the Bay wedding was amazing and heartwarming and fulfilling in so many ways. First of all, let’s take it back. Krystal and I had been communicating about their wedding for well over a year before their glorious day earlier this month. They are just my kind of people – born to be out on the water, boats and jetskis are their favorite method of transportation, they have a big lug of a dog named Beau. When I finally was able to meet them […]

Bohemian Bridal Portraits | Styled Shoot

This bohemian bridal portraits session was planned around a vision that was all things floral and romantic! It actually all started with the location – a beautiful field that had both a bamboo forest and high grasses. I saw it and had the need to photograph something beautiful here. A few months later, I still hadn’t photographed anything there even though I constantly suggested it as a location for my couples’ engagement sessions! This is when I decided to bring together a team to create a Flowers in Her Hair themed bohemian bridal portraits shoot. For the flowers, I knew […]

An Annapolis Wedding | Deena & Ryan

annapolis-wedding-photographer-17

Deena and I were high school classmates, however, I didn’t really know her all that well. I knew she played soccer, lived in my best friends neighborhood, had sisters… very basic stuff. But I really had no idea how kind and funny she was/is. Ryan and I only met for the first time at our initial wedding meet up! He seemed like a great guy, very nice, good head on his shoulders – you know the type… and since I have found out he knows like a heap-ton of my coworkers and friends! You get to really know people when […]

How to Start Wedding Planning

dc-wedding-photographer-43

I am not a wedding planner. I’m not married. I’ve never put on a wedding. Considering all of this, who am I to be giving out wedding planning advice. Just another chick who frequents the wedding scene I suppose. But forreal, I do have weird, in-depth knowledge of weddings and how they work and operate from a vendor standpoint. With like 12 of my friends getting engaged recently, I was inspired to write this post about how to even begin your wedding planning. Take this as you will considering I’m not a wedding planner. Pick a season.  Unless you have a […]

Do we get the copyright to the pictures?

Regularly, when a bride or groom is inquiring about my wedding photography, one of their first questions is “do we get the copyright to the pictures?” The problem with this is that I don’t really think most people know what they’re actually asking in this case. Just an FYI, I don’t release the copyright to my images to the couples I photograph (this is pretty standard in the wedding industry). I do, however, provide them with a print release. And another FYI, I’m about 99% positive the reason couples ask for the copyright is because some wedding website or blogger wrote a piece […]

How Do I Pick a Bridal Suite?

While planning your wedding, you might ask yourself how do I pick a bridal suite? You’ve seen the beautiful Pinterest images…oh, my sweet brides, how Pinterest has inspired you so. I love me some Pinterest, but I do get a tad overwhelmed when a bride sends me a Pinterest board of shots she loves… that are taken in incredibly different circumstances than we will be in for her wedding. There is nothing wrong with pulling wedding inspiration from Pinterest, but  but I sometimes need you to give yourself a healthy dose of reality – that shot of you sitting on the […]

Jamaican Destination Wedding | Mike & Jamie

jamaican destination wedding

The first wedding I photographed of the year happened to be a Jamaican destination wedding! If I had it my way, all weddings would be like this one. It was a bit spontaneous, very low key, amazingly beautiful, and completely full of joy. So let me tell you a little about Mike and Jamie. Mike is one of my coworkers at my full time job and I met Jamie for the first time last year. They are absolutely soulmates. I can’t think of two people who are more perfect for one another than the two of them. They are such an […]

Wedding Color Palette Trends for 2017

Wedding color palettes are one of the first things brides typically tell me about when it comes to their wedding details, and I absolutely love hearing about them! For 2017, there are all sorts of wedding color palette trends, but I wanted to show off my favorites! BOLD AND BRIGHT This image was taken when I second shot for Photos by Sarah Beth at a gorgeous wedding in Austin, TX. I was obsessed with all the colors that were so tastefully used in the florals and table settings. The coral pink, the almost-navy blue, the peach, and the multiple shades […]

2016 Best of Wedding Portraits

For a final Best of 2016 post (following best of details, bloopers, black and whites, and engagements/couples), I present to you the best of couples moments. Most of these images were taken during formal portraits of the bride and groom, but some were just moments I captured during the wedding day. I don’t have much to say about them besides I think these are some of those images that make you truly feel the love, excitement, joy, emotion, and energy of the wedding couple on their day. Enjoy the images; I hope they make you feel something! I’m getting so […]
