Baltimore Wedding | K & C

Sometimes I feel like a broken record when I talk about how much I adore my couples, but here I go again… I adore Kait and Chris so much! They were wed on a gorgeous day earlier this month in what was quite possibly the most beautiful wedding ceremony Baltimore has ever seen. They had such an incredible vision for their day and it really came to life. For me, it was just awesome to see Chris (who I’ve known for probably 10 years now) marry the stunning Kait – the joy in their eyes when they first were able […]

Dewey Beach Wedding | J & B

Welcome to the most perfect beach wedding blog post ever. I’m so excited to share a little preview of Jane and Brian’s Dewey beach wedding! On top of being an absolutely amazing couple, Jane and Brian’s wedding featured an epic wedding party, heaps of flower girls and ring bearers, orange crushes, an amazing live band, ocean views, and a gorgeous sunset! Just an FYI, I’m totally obsessed with everything about this wedding. Like I’m always obsessed with my clients and the beautiful days they have, but this particular wedding felt like something I personally would put together for myself. If […]

Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Wedding | S&T

Dilly Dilly! This Annapolis Waterfront Hotel Wedding was as close to perfect as a wedding can get! It was exactly the right setting for Sarah and Tom’s wedding at the end of June. When they first reached out to me, they told me they were hosting their wedding in Annapolis because they love being on the water and it just felt right to celebrate on the bay. They said that over the four years they had been dating, spending time in Annapolis brought them so much happiness that they couldn’t wait to share with their friends and families! As they were describing […]

Courtney & Jimmy | South Carolina Wedding

I bet you a dollar that over a decade ago, when these two got together in high school, they didn’t know they’d have one of the best weddings ever! With all their family and guests traveling from all over to Myrtle Beach for their South Carolina wedding, it was easy to tell how loved they are. Some of my favorite things from this wedding: The ode to their pups on the coozies for the guests (they love their dogs so much… and like so do I) How excited everyone was for the two of them! When you’ve been together for […]

Wedding Timeline Planning

ospreys-belmont-bay-wedding-77

Wedding timeline planning is one of the easiest ways to get yourself organized. The timeline is great to have as a little reminder of all the activities in the day! Also, it’s incredibly helpful to your photographer to know when events are starting and where they’re happening! The photographer normally arrives one hour before the bride is ready to go. Or to think about it another way, they’ll arrive 3 hours before the ceremony starts! This can vary on a few factors, like if the couple is doing a first look or not. The bridesmaids will have their hair and make-up done by this point. The groom and groomsmen will […]

Top 5 Reception Moments

Sometimes I think I focus too many of my blogs on the ~pretty~ part of wedding days. By this I mean the details, the flowers, the dress, the posed portraits, etc. Today, I want to show some love to the receptions. Reception photos can be tough to capture (photography is all about LIGHT, receptions happen after dark and the lights always get turned down low to set the mood) but they end up being one of the best parts of photo editing. So today, I’m counting down 5 of my favorite reception moments, starting with number 5! 5. When the sweet, […]

Photographs on the Walls

It is the digital age and we’re all guilty of so many things that come with technology being so accessible. One of those things is taking a bajillion photographs on our cell phones, dumping them to the cloud or onto our computers, and rarely going back to look at them. Even as a photographer I am guilty of this… like you should see the amount of images I take of my dogs that I don’t delete because they’re so cute but don’t do anything with. But as a photographer, I believe STRONGLY in doing something with at least SOME of your images. […]

My Most Embarrassing Moments as a Photographer

People regularly believe that being a wedding photographer is full of glitz and glamour. It is not. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve had a few moments as a wedding photographer where I’ve thought, “this isn’t supposed to happen to wedding photographers!” Here’s a quick round up of my ~favorite~ embarrassing moments as a photographer! That time I broke the boutonniere. I no longer pin boutonnieres on because at this wedding I was trying to be helpful and instead I snapped it in half. It all worked out in the end – the groom didn’t love the flowers on the […]

Before and After: Wedding Photography Edits

A lot of people have a misconception that most of the work a wedding photographer does is at a wedding. It would make sense if that were the case, but it’s not. A better title for the job could be Marketer-Communicator-Planner-Therapist-Photographer-Editor-Giver. This blog post is going to be about the “Editor” part of the job. Another misconception people have is that the photos I deliver are the photos straight out of the camera. While as a photographer the photos straight out of camera are technically very good and the composition is right (we hope), they aren’t always as colorful or […]

Awesome Wedding Venues in Northern Virginia

Finding a wedding venue is typically one of the first steps an engaged couple takes during wedding planning! There are a bazillion and one amazing venues around the area, so rather than do DC, MD, and NoVA all together, I decided to compile a short list of my favorite awesome wedding venues in Northern Virginia. First up, Bluemont Vineyard (or any of the Wineries in the Loudon area). Sooooo if you know much about me, you know I’m almost the definition of a basic white girl when it comes to wine. I love me some wine. I love me some cheese. I […]
